In the novel "Kite Runner" written by Khaled Hosseini, Amir's father Baba famously states, ""There is no act more wretched than stealing, Amir. A man who takes what's not his to take, be it a life or a loaf of naan...I spit on such a man. And if I ever cross paths with him, God help him." Taking what is not yours has been ashamed upon since the beginning of mankind. One man works hard for his loaf of bread so another who did not work as hard as he did can swoop in and take it away. That sounds unfair doesn't it? That's because it is. Everything that I have in life came by me putting in the work to get it. Nothing was just given to me. So because of that fact, it makes my possessions so much more valuable because I knew what it took for me to have it in the first place.
